Dr Gloria Vargas
Gloria is a researcher focused on Social Value, Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE), and Sustainable Design. Her passion lies in working on industry-engaged projects that promote knowledge sharing, multidisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful connections between academia, industry, and society. Her work is known for placing human experience at the heart of how spaces are designed and understood.
She completed her PhD at the School of Architecture, University of Sheffield, as part of the People, Environments and Performance Research Group. Her academic background includes a Master’s degree in Architecture and Technology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM), and RIBA Part III from University College London (UCL).
Gloria has led research projects with the Architectural Science Group at the Welsh School of Architecture, the Urban Living Research Group at the University of Reading, and the Community Design Research Group at the University of Cambridge. Currently she also volunteers on research initiatives with industry partners in Mexico and acts as an external supervisor at UAEM and UNAM.
