Leonardo Ricaurte Ospina
Leonardo is an architect and socio-spatial researcher specialising in affordable and sustainable housing, participatory design, post-occupancy evaluation and social value assessment. As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow (RE-DWELL ITN) at the University of Reading, his doctoral research investigated how housing design and management practices at the estate level shape residents’ capabilities and social value outcomes.
His work bridges architecture, urban planning, community engagement and policy design, and draws on international research experience in the UK, France, the Netherlands and Colombia. He has collaborated with housing associations, residents, and policy partners to advance interdisciplinary, system-based knowledge and deliver research with real-world impact. His approach is grounded in socio-technical and transdisciplinary frameworks, combining academic rigour with practice-oriented outcomes and a strong commitment to socio-spatial justice, inclusion and co-creation with communities.
